MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?
MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN?

By Rev. Dr. Larry Delano Coleman
The President Donald Trump campaign mantra “Make America Great Again,” raises the unanswerable question: ‘Compared to what?’ 1619? 1776? 1865? 1965?
The question may also elicit “Compared to Whom?” England? France? Germany? Canada? Russia? Spain? Japan? Holland? Italy? South Africa? Rome? Ethiopia?
To some America has always been great; to some others, it has never been great.
Thus, the mantra without a comparative, affords an open narrative to/for anyone. It certainly stands for nothing by itself, except an open blank for a hearer to fill at will.
The ambiguities abound, enabling anyone to peck on it, peculate, speculate on it.
So, what does the mantra mean? Answer: What does it mean to you and to yours?
