OPPOSITES

ENVISION THE OPPOSITE Envisioning its opposite helps to an understanding of the present thing. Both opposites clarify entireties . Whenever some concept, rule, or principle that you encounter may seem to be difficult, envision its opposite . Then a double victory, a double clarity is gained, thereby. This is antipodal juxtaposition. It is helpful to me in my own reasoning. I pray that it may bless one of you.

BIRD'S NEST

A BIRD'S NEST ON THE GROUND Beauty is patent sublimity. Being in our direct sight, beauty is easy for all people to view its virtues: for all to perceive, to intuitively commune with in body-soul: secretly, subtly. Surface gold is also beautiful, but gold also enriches, its value-added to beauty beats beauty by itself any day. For "Beauty is only skin-deep." Don't fumble the football. Secure it. Easily-caught game tastes just as sumptuously, satiates just as much, at lesser energy or materials costs. Therefore taking a straighter, more direct path to beauty, or to what is also innately valuable, is as just as valorous, as using a bevy of various alternative paths for a more elusive prey, more risky, uncertain quarry. A bird's nest on the ground fattens. Appreciate what is at hand, nearby!

I REALLY, REALLY DO!

I REALLY, REALLY DO! Auntie ("ainty" to me) was the one person who introduced me to true Louisiana gumbo, way back in the 1980s in New Orleans, when I was "courting" her niece, now my wife. Lyla had carried me over to Aintie's house for dinner. When the gumbo came out, with crab-legs jutting up, I tore into it like nobody's business! First one bowl. Then another bowl. When I finished. I pushed back from the table, preparing to stand. That's when Ainty looked at me : "Where are you going? Dinner ain't over., yet. That Louisiana gumbo was just 'fore dinner hors d'oevre!" "Oh, Lord!" I said a bit too loud . "In Missouri, the gumbo is the meal." "But. I fixed dinner specially for you, Larry. Don't you want to at least try it," she asked, while , pulling a delicious-looking baked fish, immured in ruby- red gravy from out her very capable oven. "My loose goose is now surely cooked," I said to myself, knowing that if I ate that it would all be over! "It" being my bachelorhood days! Anyway, I sat back down and sighed. The fish was even better than that outstanding gumbo ! As I was nearing the end of the "cubionne" fish, and its millitong (green squash like vegetable) accompaniment, Ainty then whipped out the her "piece de resistance,"!her amazing sweet potato bread , with whipped cream! Light as a feather and too tasty! I wobbled from the table to watch the television. When I was softly awakened up by a gentle shake on the shoulder, I was standing in front of a preacher in my own home in the presence of many witnesses, family, friends, in KC saying "I do!"

SEPARATENESS?

SEPARATENESS CONCEPTIONS? As there are numerous numbers between 1 and 2, might not the same be true of hydrogen-helium? Fractions run on forever, infinitely. Might not ions and/or isotopes do the same, run on forever between all other conjoining elements on the chemical periodic tables, as well!? This raises the question of earthly constants and variables' existence and separateness, as understood by us, and, our own separateness, from our Creator, from each other.

BUY LAND DON'T RENT LAND!

BUY LAND DON'T RENT LAND! It is far better to live in the hollow of a tree on your own land than to be a tenant on the land of another . Words to this effect were uttered by Booker T. Washington over one hundred years ago. Yet, some of us have yet to get the message about the virtues of one's land ownership. These thoughts come to mind as I reflect upon an article about the gentrification of land around my alma mater, Howard University in Washington, D.C. It was carried on National Public Radio earlier today. When I was a student there in the 1970s, there were quite a few black homeowners and there were those who did not own, but who rented abodes for several generations. In fact, there had been "town and gown" community issues with the so-called "block boys," who were a segment of community residents, those who were wont to prey upon, criminally, or to beat-up, a number of Howard students, until there was a "town-gown" fisticuffs showdown in 1968, with Howard students of like backgrounds to "block boys'," who kicked their belligerent booties (butts); thus ending all such issues! I entered in 1969. I graduated in 1973 from undergraduate school and 1976 from out law school, without any incident, thanks to those who had gone before, who taught us the history that had preceded us, that was not a part of the "Campus Pals" official Freshman orientation! Land belongs to no one, except he who can take it, and keep it, by any means necessary. Prudence and common sense commends to all who have ears to buy it, don't rent!

"A CLOSED MOUTH NEVER GETS FED." --REV. HAROLD COLEMAN. NEITHER DOES A CLOSED MIND.

WE ARE BAOBABS

When a baobab tree is stripped of its fruit and foliage by elephants, birds, apes, men, and insects, it nevertheless resurges, restores its stock in season due to its nature. Mother Africa is the baobab tree. We are its excreted seeds, living in the Americas and in the Caribbean. Mother Africa will robustly recover, like the baobab tree, from the two devastating slave trade's theft of her best-loved fruit from the 800s until the 1800s to Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the islands of the sea.

TRAVELING

TRAVELING PURPOSEFULLY If "a rolling stone gathers no moss," as the old saying goes, it is yet true that, traveling, motivated, people do so. For, such unique people who travel, move, gather much "moss." This "moss" is their homage, after-growth, their legacy in the form of followers, imitators, allies, enemies, critics, historical notice; spiritual-cultural influences, even decades centuries, even eons after death. One of my many heroes is Marcus Mosiah Garvey, of St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica, a printer and journalist by trade, who had traveled at his own expense, extensively, observantly, throughput the Caribbean, Central and South America, as well as in North America, investigating the living conditions of the black man, and status of black people, before embarking on his life's work. the founding of the Universal Improvement Association and African Communities League in Harlem, New York, 1917-1920s. Marcus Garvey's hero (mine, too) was the great Booker T. Washington, another traveling man, founder of Tuskegee Institute in 1881, to whom he had traveled to America to meet with, after writing to him in 1914. Unfortunately, Dr. Booker T. Washington died in 1915 before he and his acolyte, Garvey, could meet. It was not yet time. From St. Ann's Bay, Jamaica, where he was born on August 17, 1887, until his death on June 10, 1940, Marcus Garvey was a traveling man. This summer, if you go no farther than your own local area , seek-out outposts of black historic importance . And take some one with you when you go, so that all and each may grow, from such rejuvenating communal oblations. Traveling itself abounds in benefits. But, traveling for a purpose tops all! Purposeful traveling fascinates, educates, elucidates, accentuates, illustrates, exhilarates, demonstrates, instates the traveler into locations, situations, that take the complete locus of the traveler: body, mind, spirit, property, to different times, climes. Travel is its own reward. But if it is pursued, purposefully, as for rediscovering out latent, lost or ignored history, it is life-changing and transformative. Great people travel, broad-minded people travel, inquiring-bold people travel, resourceful people travel. You too must travel, as your own circumstances may best allow, and when you travel, observe, imbibe! Reading good books, this summer is another great form of traveling; it is vicariously traveling, cheapest form of all. Do this if nothing more!

SELLER BEWARE

SELLER BEWARE! Sunday, July 23, 2017 BY Rev. Dr. Larry Delano Coleman BRUTALITY INFLICTED UPON A WOMAN SELING FLOWERS BY POLICE WAS SO DISPROPORTIONATE AND WAS SO UNCALLED-FOR, THAT IT INVOKED HOWLS OF PROTESTS FROM EMBITTERED ONLINE VIEWERS. IT BROUGHT TO MIND THE ARRESTS OF SEVERAL BLACK TEENAGERS WHO HAD BEEN SELLING BOTTLED WATER ON THE NATIONAL MALL IN JULY; AND THE DEATH OF ERIC GARNER FOR SELLING CIGARETTES. AT BACK OF THESE ARRESTS AND BRUTALITY ARE LAWS, REGULATIONS ENACTED OR PROMULGATED BY SOME MEN AND WOMEN TO SQUEEZE OTHER PEOPLE OUT OF THE MARKET PLACE BY PAID-POLITICAL PROCESSES. THESE PRIVATE POLITICAL PURCHASERS, THEN, HAVE THEIR PUCHASED LEGAL PRODUCT PUBLICLY ENFORCED BY TAPAYER-SUPPORTED POLICE COERCION, INCLUDING LETHAL FORCE. THE POLICE ARE, IN TURN, LARGELY IMMUNIZED FROM CRIMINAL PROSECUTION OR FROM CIVIL LIABILITY, BY THE SAME PURCHASING POLITICAL FORCES WHO HAVE PUT UP THE MONEY TO ELECT THE JUDGES, THE PROSECUTORS, THE POLITICIANS, TO ENACT AND ENFORCE THE LAWS PURCHASED TO ENRICH THE PURCHASERS, AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS’ EXCLUSION FROM THE PUBLIC MARKET PLACE. SELLING SOMETHING, THEN, IS AS RISKY AS IT IS RISQUE IN THE REALM OF UNREASONABLE REGULATIONS. “CAVEAT EMPTOR” IS LATIN FOR “BUYER BEWARE!” IN AMERICA, THAT GOES FOR OTHER SELLERS TOO!

SPIRIT TRANSFORMS

SPIRIT OF GOD TRANSFORMS Nice, non-controversial, subjects, seminars, or socials, at national conventions, nevertheless, may morph into raging torments, when the spirit of the Lord descends on them, as it did at Pentecost; at the 1963 "March on Washington;" at the Mexico Olympics in 1968; or at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, when and where a relatively-unknown, black, Illinois Senator, Barack Hussein Obama, gave his epic "red states-blue states-the United States of America," speech that not only electrified the convention, but, as importantly, catapulted himself into the bright spotlight of our national consciousness; from there, into the Presidency of the United States.

ARGUING FACTS

Arguing facts whose verity is now easily ascertainable online wastes time and energy needlessly as does arguing itself over anything less than the facts.

BLACK HISTORICAL REMEMBRANCES, WILMINGTON N.C.

BLACK HISTORICAL REMEMBRANCES It must never be forgotten that we have not come to our present low state by default as African Americans. Our current desuetude was crafted by deliberate acts of sabotage, theft, mass-murder by maniacal white men and women after the Civil War. These whites were jealous, angry, of blacks' sure, swift, strides for self-sustentation that threatened all the lies, laws, myths, about blacks, upon which their wealth was propped, and their power over us, and the poorer white people, was based, that maintained their hegemony! In his poignant novel, THE MARROW OF TRADITION (1900), African American lawyer and author, Charles Waddell Chestnutt, retrieves and preserves in fiction the woeful destructive history of 1898 Wilmington , North Carolina's, upper-class, white-led, "coup d'etat," against "The Record," Wilmington's preeminent black newspaper (pictured above). It was destroyed, as were black-owned businesses, black homes and homeowners. The mob killed hundreds and forced hundreds of others into nearby swamps, until white rage abated with the restoration of white supremacy. This whites-only coup d'etat preceded the better-known economic coup against black achievements in business and home ownership in: Tulsa, Oklahoma by 23 years; by Atlanta, Georgia by 8 years; East St. Louis and Springfield, Illinois, by 19 years; Springfield, Missouri by 23 years; and in the same year as Memphis, Tennessee. "The Wilmington Riot" and the later "Red Summers of 1917-1923" it ignited, toppled over black-elected officials in various city governments, in some instances, but prominent, wealthy black enterprise always. Wilmington was once the most prominent city in the entire "Tar-Heel" state in 1898. http://www.starnewsonline.com/news/20170721/students-help-preserve-copies-of-wilmington-record-burned-by-whites-in-1898

PROVE ME NOW HEREWITH

PROVE ME NOW HEREWITH Speculation in the abstract is the province of any man or any woman. If tied to nothing natural, testable , observable , empirical, concrete ; then such speculations may run on wherever they please defying logic, law, science, mathematics, music, anything . The test is the tie-in to the real. The proof, demonstration. Proof is the severer, the winnower of the real from the unreal, surreal. "Prove me now herewith," said the word of God, and "I will open you a window from heaven and pour out so much you cannot receive it all." OBLIQUITY IS AXIAL TILT

Obliquity, or axial tilt, is our earth's and our own accommodation within our contextual environment, in time, space, life, and grace. "To devise the obliquity of the Zodiac and the circling path of all the celestial bodies beneath it, and this earth of ours--and all in such a way that reason can be given for the plan--this could never be the work of an image ; it tells of that Power (the All-Soul) next to the very Highest Beings." BLACK LEADERSHIP INQUISITION

LEADERSHIP INQUISITION I have long suspected that the modern term, "conservative," was an insidious nostrum, a veiled, verbal hood for covert racism . Its acceptance was equivalent to allowing the camel's nose to venture inside of the tent; camel's entire corpus soon followed. The loss of intellectual and philosophical leadership is one cause of this usurpation of momentum by forces of "conservatism." They emerged from their lairs after the spate of assassinations in the 1960's, which left less-talented black leaders in charge of our freedom movement. Leaders make or break freedom movements, history has shown. Leadership may also dissolve the momentum of movements by idling their engines, when they should be throttling them; or compromising principles for the sake of gain, be it by moral concupiscence or by material corruption. I do not that imply that any ethical wrongdoing may have befallen the black freedom movement in America due to any person or organization. Perhaps such things must need to have been, independent of dynamic and indomitable leaders as earlier. War is hell. Soldiers die in battle. That is why leadership training must always continue, apace. Although we were essentially leaderless, we have made progress nevertheless from the halcyon days of the 1960's. "Is your family now better off than it was in the 1960's? Are you now better off?" If both answers are affirmative, well done. If one is negative, inquire where your own leadership faltered, and why? Progress is relative, like leadership. It is relative to how it has helped you and yours. As historic structural minorities in a malevolently exploitative white world, with but minor exceptions, we, as black people in America, have had a lot to overcome, with more to go. But we know, we sense, that somehow, in several ways, very soon, our relief, our respite will come from very many indications, from many directions, within, and without, our people, our nation, and our faiths.

LOVING BOOKS

LEARNING TO LOVE BOOKS I love books. So, so much do I love them, that I would vainly attempt to impose my love for them on others. My love for books began very early, when my mother gave me a little picture book of dinosaurs at age 4. I could not read it. But the pictures spoke to me. They totally enlarged my facile imagination and some of them scared me, thus, emotionally engaging me in their varieties. My mother also loved books like me! My next memorable book, apart from the "Fun with Dick and Jane," series in 1st grade, whereby we learned to read under Mrs. Riley, was my first library book in 2nd grade, that was borrowed from the bookmobile, our school district's mobile library, for schools without libraries, like my own James Milton Turner Elementary School in the Kirkwood, Missouri, School District. This book had a striking cover. It was titled, "ESTEVANICO, Little Stephen;" it was about the famous Spanish explorer who was killed as he and his party journeyed across the present day southwest United States, exploring and planting crosses for other, later Spaniards to follow its progress as they sought the fabled City of Gold. Estevanic was the first "European" person to do so . European is in quotation marks, because he was a black man, a Moor, who had converted from Islam to Christianity, after the military ouster of the Moors, back to Africa in 1492, by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, of Spain. The Moors had ruled, had "civilized" Spain for over 700 years, having conquered it in 711. I intuitively learned much from this 2nd grade book, on black history, very early.

GRACE

GRACE Grace . All grace . Every tiny bit is grace . All heavenly wonderment is grace. That earth exist is grace. That life exists is grace. That I exist is grace. That you exist is grace. That anyone or anything else exists is grace. All who or that can, has, may, or shall, exist is grace. Mere fact of existence itself is grace. Grace. All grace. Every tiny bit is grace. All is God's ineffable and everlasting grace.

TRUMP IS TREED

DONALD TRUMP IS TREED. LIKE A BIG OLE RACCOON. THE HUNTERS, HOUNDS HAVE HIM TREED IN THE WHITE HOUSE, BEWILDERED, BITTER, SCOWLING; WAY OUT OF HIS LEAGUE! UNLESS HE LEAPS TO ANOTHER TREE, LIKE RUSSIA. SLOVENIA, ISRAEL, SAUDI ARABIA, HE IS FINISHED!

FIG TREE MEMORIES

My mind just flashed back, while eating my apple, to fresh figs that we picked off a fig tree-bush, in front of "Mother's" house in Canton, Mississippi, that I relished as a child decades ago. Funny how this can invoke that as we go and grow along.

LEGAL ABOLITIONISTS OF MISSOURI

LEGAL ABOLITIONISTS: THE NOBLE McGIRK BROTHERS OF EARLY MISSOURI Wednesday, July 19, 2017 By Larry Delano Coleman, Esq. I was surprised and pleased to learn that several early Missouri lawyers cum judges were abolitionists, in this slave-holding state, that was a product of Spanish, French, American and Indian forces or influences. Missouri became a State in 1821, as did Maine, both parts of the Missouri Compromise under President James Monroe. Missouri was a slave-state and Maine was a free-state that held for almost forty-years. In addition to that “compromise,” Missouri inherited a mixed body of law: customary, statutory, regnal, that had defined and delimited the rights and privileges of its inhabitants under the Louisiana Purchase, and the Northwest Ordinance of 1787. Within the interstices of this mixed multitude of laws was the “once free always free” notion, which meant that if slaves could demonstrate that they had been previously freed, elsewhere, by whatever means, that once they were brought into the new state of Missouri, as slaves, they could sue for their freedom in Missouri’s courts, and an attorney could be appointed to represent them. Hundreds did so. Hundreds succeeded. Such early success surely inspired the suit of Dred and Harriet Scott for freedom. Those early abolitionist Missouri attorneys included Matthias McGirk and his brother, Isaac McGirk. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathias_McGirk Matthias McGirk was Missouri’s first Chief Justice, having previously been in the Missouri legislature. He authored Rachel v. Walker, 4 Mo. 350 (1836), which freed an enslaved woman who had been taken to free territory by an Army officer. Walker was an important predecessor to the Dred Scott case. Before this, he was an attorney for some other “freedom suit” plaintiffs. Mathias' brother, Isaac McGirk, represented Marguerite Scypion in her claim for freedom in the Missouri courts in 1805. Later Missouri judges and legislatures, in undoing the McGirk’s stellar abolitionist legal work, paved the way for Civil War, which Dred and Harriet Scott’s U. S, Supreme Court loss, rendered inevitable! The book REDEMPTION SUITS by Leah Vandergarde (2014) is an excellent source of confirmation. #30

BLAME-GAME

Frequently criticism is heaped upon those who enjoin or encourage self-help for our people at the bottom; the critics refer to it as "blame." If blame is the price of progress, blame-on! It is better than ennui, suffering without atonement for self or others' omissions. Don't cop-out with petty excuses, get about resolving abuses!

CREDULOUS ETHIOPIANS

STILL CREDULOUS ETHIOPIANS? It may be worth remembering that the black people taken from Africa did not conceive of themselves as being "black," but as belonging to discrete "tribes," who were distinct from each other, in this later era. Europeans, however, and Arabs before them, did conceive of the Africans as "black," and enslaved them, opportunistically, on these two main bases: their aboriginal blackness and their after-acquired accreted credulity. "Credulity" is vulnerability. What one does not know can be fatal to oneself and one's family's wellness, wealth and freedom of mobility. To be "credulous" is to be "naive, gullible, unsuspecting, unwary, impressionable, unquestioning ." Credulity is a very crafty way to say dumb, stupid, ignorant, credulous. That most blacks once were credulous is clear from our present position in the world, at the bottom of societies in Africa, Europe, America, Asia, Australia, and elsewhere. But, that blacks are not inherently such, nor always such, is as evident from studying ancient civilizations, in depth. These were those that black people founded to celebrate themselves, their gods , and to teach later generations of such by their universal sciences: mathematics, astronomy, writing, philosophy, surveying, navigation. By studying one may learn that rather being at the bottom, blacks were at the top, of world society as recently as 750 years before the imputed birth dates later ascribed to Jesus Christ; by those who first came to learn from the blacks, who were succored by the blacks, who then invaded, and have assumed the identities of the blacks in much. Thus, the Greek Homer's "innocent Ethiopians," as our forebears were once known, were indirectly being termed the "credulous Ethiopians," it now seems in retrospect in 2017. Would that such woeful "black" credulousness would end soon for "credulous Ethiopians" worldwide, so as to resume self-knowledge, to reassume power, wealth, and self-respect, to the glory of God above!

EDUCATION REVISITED

EDUCATION REVISITED "White communities creating own school districts" reads a headline out of a Chicago website. This is not surprising. The negative media associated with black students and black people, generally, has for a very long time been a perverse incentive to separatism, whether true or not; or whether necessary or not . Columbine, Colorado was all-white; New Town, Connecticut was nearly all-white. I mention these horrible school massacres merely to show that there is no sanctuary from racial evil or from wickedness, anywhere, anyway. While I strenuously opposed the mandatory busing of black school children for integration purposes, only, as insulting to those students, their parents, and their communities, in Kansas City, Missouri, in the 1980's, my single "amicus curiae" voice was immaterial to the grand design or procession of the NAACP/LDF, SCLC, Urban League, or local political interests of all colors, who smelled money and were marching to it! Money, tax dollars spread abroad, in perilous pursuit of untrue, untested, unproven sociological theories, that were advanced by well-paid law firms or other intermediaries , to insiders' disparate businesses, and to disparaging degreed social "innovators" has been the downfall of public education for blacks and for whites, that no one now claims! As immaterial as my amicus curae brief that was filed in federal court in the case of "Jenkins v. State of Missouri," were the lives and reputations of the black school teachers and staffs, who were kicked to the curb by their own integration-at-any-cost black leaders! Whenever there was a car wreck or such other wrecks involving planes, ships, trains, trucks or missilery , all kinds of investigations are launched to prevent future recurrences. Not so with public education! Pouring in more public money into already-failed plans and failed persons, who have wrecked it, without any adequate investigations, is our sad recycling norm in education. So, I do not blame anyone who seeks to better educate their own children. Not to do so is criminal and crazy. So too are all parents "criminal and crazy" who do not monitor, discipline, and motivate their children to excellence in public schools, private schools, trade schools, and who do not seek to better themselves, as parents, as they do so!

FBI AND DOMESTIC TERRORISM

If an implied purpose or mission of the FBI is to protect the "people" of the United States from acts of foreign and domestic terrorism, and if it allows known domestic terrorism threats like the Ku Klux Klan to exist, to parade, to kill or to intimidate black American people, then, by necessary implication, either black people are still not "people of the United States," as was once declared in the Dred Scott case of 1857, or the FBI, by acquiescence, or complicity, Is violating the federal laws that founded it, and the Constitution of the United States of America, as amended, by the post-Civil War Amendments 13-15, that governs it. https://www.justice.gov/jmd/organization-mission-and-functions-manual-federal-bureau-investigation

CONNUBIAL BONDS

CONNUBIAL BONDS OF SELF Everything begins with self. With oneself. Then it spreads abroad. The same applies to loving oneself and to forgiving oneself for failure. Failure is a fact of life. Nor has one escaped failure, as no one escapes death, which is another connubial fact of the life that we live by grace. Connubially bonded as well are self love and self-forgiveness, which is the precondition to doing the same for others "as thy self" says Jesus. "Connubial" is the state of being bound in matrimony. It is the tether that keeps holding us together within ourselves, as well as without ourselves, literally and figuratively. Starting right now, let us retrace every failure in our lives, as far back as we can recall in time, then love it, forgive it! Start now love-forgive! Love is forgiveness inverted. Love yourself, forgive yourself ; next, love and forgive others as others do you. It should not be broadcast nor proclaimed, God knows hearts. Amen.

CHANCE DETERMINISM AND KC ROYALS

CHANCE, DETERMINISM AND KANSAS CITY ROYALS Monday, July 17, 2017 By Rev. Dr. Larry Delano Coleman IT MAY BE THAT CHANCE IS A DIVINE CONSORT OF DETERMINISM OR A MEMBER OF THE HAREM. AFTER MY HOMETOWN KANSAS CITY ROYAL’S BOTTOMOF THE 9TH-INNING WIN OVER THE TEXAS RANGERS, YESTERDAY, JULY 16, 2017, WHEN THE FIERY BRIGHT SUN OBSCURED TEXAS’ RIGHT FIELDER’S VIEW OF, ABILITY TO CATCH, THE BALL, THAT BLINDLY DROPPED OFF THE TIP OF HIS GLOVE, I AM NOW MORE CONVINCED THAN EVER BEFORE THAT CHANCE IS AS ACTIVE A FORCE IN LIFE, AS DETERMINISM. NOW, TO WHAT DEGREE CHANCE FACTORS IN LIFE, RELATIVE TO DETERMINISM , WHETHER AS 1/64, AS THE ANCIENT EGYPTIAN SAGES CLAIMED AND DEPICTED IN THE ‘EYE OF HORUS,’ I DO NOT KNOW. I DO KNOW THE ROYALS WON! THEIR RECENT LOSING STREAK ENDED AT 5 GAMES, TO TEXAS AT 12 GAMES. INSIGHTS COME TO US IN MANY WAYS, ON DIFFERENT DAYS, IF WE PEER INTO OUTER APPEARANCES. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mlb/kansas-city-royals/article161681678.html

BIBLE INFLUENCES GOOD WRITING

THE BIBLE INFLUENCES WRITING Real life stories often foist fictional fabrics upon their frameworks as colorful frocks. Apparently their authors are too frightened by the ugly enormity of some segments of reality to expose such views of unabashed truth to literary scrutiny. This inference I have drawn most recently from Mrs. Harriet Beecher Stowe, the acclaimed author of the iconic civil war, "novel," UNCLE TOM'S CABIN (1852). Her book is believed to have contributed to the Civil War .I had thought it to be strange to have read of like incidents and occurrences, to hers, to be featured in other works, of various genres: slave narratives, autobiographies, and Underground Railroad records, especially the flight of Eliza over a frozen river. Now, I know why that there was this overlap. Her "novel" is not really a novel. Rather, it is actually quite "factual," despite its fillistered fig-leaf cover-genre, being nearer in form and content to a figure of speech, a trope, known as "apostrophe." She explains how, below, in some detail. So effective was her work as abolitionist apostrophe that it became an instant best-seller in America and in England. much so that it became "spiritual" to many and a threat to others.A free black Methodist minister named Green was given a 10-year jail sentence in antebellum Maryland, for sedition, after a copy of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was found in his house. He was finally freed by the Civil War, himself! Mrs. Stowe writes: "At different times, doubt has been expressed whether the representations of 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' are fair representations of slavery as it at present exists. This work , more, perhaps than any other work of fiction that ever was written, has been a collection and arrangement of real incidents,--of actions really performed, of words and expressions really uttered,--grouped together with reference to a general result, in the same manner that the mosaic artist groups his fragments of various stones into one general picture . He is a mosaic of gems,--this is a mosaic of facts. "Artistically considered, it might not be best to point out in which quarry and from which region each fragment of the mosaic picture had its origins; and it is equally unartistic to disentangle the glittering web of fiction, and show out of what real warp and woof it is woven, and with what real coloring dyed . But the book had a purpose transcending the artistic one, and accordingly encounters, at the hands of the public, demands not usually made on fictitious works. It is 'treated' as a reality,--sifted, tried and tested, as a reality ; and therefore as a reality it may be proper that it should be defended. "The author agrees that the book is a very inadequate representation of slavery; and it is so necessarily for this reason,--that slavery in some of its workings, is too dreadful for the purposes of art. A work which should represent strictly as it is would be a work which could not be read. And all works which ever mean to give pleasure must draw a veil somewhere, or they cannot succeed." Part I, Chap.I, p.5, A KEY TO UNCLE TOM'S CABIN; FACTS AND DOCUMENTS UPON WHICH THE STORY IS FOUNDED by Harriet Beecher Stowe (1853) As with real life stories, even those cloaked as fiction as "Uncle Tom's Cabin," Bible verses, in form and substance , can under-gird the most vibrant prose. "I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps" goes Julia Ward's the "Battle Hymn of the Republic." It is also in the writings of Thomas Paine: "'Make but the case of others your own, and your own theirs, and you will then have a clear idea of the whole." p.225, "The Crisis VIII," THOMAS PAINE COLLECTED WRITINGS (1955). This echoes , "They sat where they sat for seven days saying nothing." Ezekiel 3:15. It also echoes a passage in Job. Abraham Lincoln's, Frederick Douglass', William Wells Brown's and even the towering river pilot, Mark Twain's frequently-misunderstood apostrophic writings effect Biblical nuances, references and rhythms, often quotations in them.

TWO-PARTY SYSTEM'S FAILURE

TWO-PARTY SYSTEM'S FAILURE If too many ingredients spoil the stew, then, too many cooks do too, the old adage goes. But, as true as that may be in the kitchen , it has not as yet demonstrated its truth in American history nor in its politics. In political matters more is better. Too wide of a tent allows too many ideological adversaries to come in. Thus, one subtracts from the other. But for the central pivotal question of the enduring American dilemma: the issues of class, color, race, and power, no axial alignment can exist. Right now Republicans are flush, if flustered; Democrats are defiant, if they are depressed, by 2016 votes. The current American two-party political system has failed to solve too many natal differences; failed to remedy too many disparities. They have both enabled the rich to grow richer, even as the poor grew poorer, due to their public policies. These policies are reflected in the people who have been elected or who have been selected to serve the public interest; but who have, instead, preferred to serve various private interests, especially their own interests, at the expense of the aggregate public interests. This is not necessarily to suggest that more political parties will be different from these now existing. But, more political choice like more cable channels, more radio stations, more living space, or internet access, could hardly be worse than what is now swaggering about, masquerading as our public officials and siphoning our taxes for their favorite oligarchs and selves!

ME AND AUGUST 21, 2017 TOTAL SOLAR ECIPSE

ME AND THE AUGUST 21, 2017, TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE Either total solar eclipses were nonexistent in ancient Egypt, where astronomy began, where it was revered in daily life, and whose thousands of "scribes," (rigorously educated priests), who have famously recorded for posterity, even the most mundane things, natural or human--medical, mathematical, astronomical texts, etc; ----OR, if there were total solar eclipses in ancient Egypt (Kemet), then, those extremely rare, lunar/solar conjunctions whose extraordinarily spectacular occurrences amaze man even now, evidently, did not blind the tens of millions of people who surely must have worshiped or witnessed the heavenly conjunction, without sun glasses, without permanent injury, since no written records from that prolific era, whether on papyrus or in stone stelae in hieroglyphics, hieratic, or demotic scripts make note of such. This absence of written records in ancient Kemet may be far more remarkable than the solar eclipses! On August 21, 2017, a total solar eclipse will pass over the United States and Canada. Literally, tens of millions of people will be able to view it directly, as they do the sun each day, who also will have been forewarned by government, media, and certain other authorities not to view the August 21 event, directly, lest permanent blindness results. Special goggles will have been given away and methods of indirect total eclipse viewing will have been widely disseminated to citizens. The last time that this total solar eclipse happened was in 1991, in the United States. I relented then and viewed that total eclipse indirectly. But ever since then, I had wondered about the truthfulness of these dire straits predictions, allegedly scientific expostulations, which authorities claim definitely will befall all modern viewers unlike total solar eclipses of olden days, over whom our culture now asserts a certain inverse superiority of knowledge, and wisdom ; but from whom all of knowledge or wisdom has descended to us like rays of sunlight!

MIND MERGED WITH BODY AND SOUL

Free your mind, feed your mind, hydrate your mind, aerate your mind, exercise your mind, sanctify your mind, glorify your mind, enrich your mind, cleanse your mind, purify your mind; entrain your mind to flow as one unit: with your mind, your soul, and your body, in total formation with like-minded, whole-soul people.

SECURITY FOR INTEGRITY

SECURITY FOR INTEGRITY Integrity is rarely conducive to victory, to judge from history. It seems that chicanery, mendacity, duplicity are better vices to win. It may be that integrity and victory are incompatible without security: from chicanery mendacity duplicity. What kind of security can this be? That banishes vices from the field to assure integrity an opportunity? Cleanliness of place persons things that are continually vetted revetted revetted, in body and in spirit, with rigorously sound knowledge, and with nutrient-rich feeding supplied. Vice is the default state of integrity, as integrity is of vice. Staunching one releases the other one to live. "Choose you this day whom you will serve ..as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Josh.24: 14-15. Choose you each day on in! Thank God for new opportunities!

CORRELATES AND CAUSALITY

CORRELATES AND CAUSATION Correlatives correlate. Correlation being things that tie-together in some manner, known or unknown . In ninth grade science, we learned of spontaneous combustion, when oily rags in an enclosed space can combust into flames on their own. Another correlation is the election of Donald Trump as United States President, following two terms of Barack Hussein Obama, the first African American, whose electoral improbability was even more improbably, exceeded by Donald Trump, who had never held office ! Correlates may and have defied all well-known principles of causation. Grain dusts, for example, explode, when dusts' air-borne, particulate matter combines with certain heat, pressures, lack of humidity and aeration, to combust without fire . No one yet knows why or when it may do so again, or for a first time! Other suspected correlates include such natural occurrences as rain, sunshine, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, droughts, blizzards, ice ages, floods, flora-fauna extinction. Perhaps the greatest correlate of all is earth, is life on earth, is each unmatched life on earth or thing. Here again causality is clueless. Yet correlates or correlatives multiply!

ST.LOUIS DEFENSE LAWYER

DRIVING INTO ST. LOUIS EARLY ONE MORNING, YEARS AGO, A RADIO AD CAUGHT MY ATTENTION. SOME SUAVE, OBVIOUSLY- BLACK, FEMALE ATTORNEY SOLICITED HER PROSPECTIVE CRIMINAL DEFENSE CLIENTS, TO WIT: "THE QUESTION IS NOT WHETHER YOU ARE GOOD FOR IT, MY BROTHERS. INSTEAD, THE QUESTION IS WHETHER OR NOT, THEY CAN PROVE BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT, THAT YOU ARE, IN FACT, GOOD FOR IT? SO, CALL ME."

IMMUNIZING AGAINST "SNAKE" BITES

IMMUNIZING OUR CHILDREN AND OURSELVES FROM "SNAKE" BITE Truth reinforces our immune systems, that lies degrade. In saying this, I am thinking about a white racist female school teacher in Florida, who had just who told her class of black students at the Carter G. Woodson Elementary School that they were "rats" in mentality. Rats. Insulting that hurts. Truth reinforces. Lies degrade. One may hope that the parents of these children will now renew their immune systems and their own, by loving reassurances, and rigorous evidence that they are not rats in mentation, nor descendants of rats in mentation, but divine gifts of God to the earth and to eternity. The parents may do this by telling them who Carter G. Woodson was! His book, THE MISEDUCATION OF THE NEGRO they should read with them, as part of their family-wide immunological reinforcement. Then the entire family will understand that their teacher is the true rat, a real liar, who was trying to destroy black lives in their formative period. Families, churches, communities of these young children must not rest, since "snakes" in the grass are ever slithering about seeking such easy quarry, and similar unguarded prey.
