DILUTED AND POLLUTED MAN?

DILUTED AND POLLUTED MAN? "Dilution" is the watering down, the thinning out, the degradation of the original. Dilution can occur, indeed it has occurred, chemically, culturally, environmentally, and in other ways. In terms of man, it is, at least, debatable whether the present devolution of man is a diluted version of the original man? Imagine meeting nature in the raw, surviving, propagating; teaching; and figuring out what is good to eat and drink; how to speak and to write; how to compute and to build, "and on and on until the break of dawn," should give us modern humans pause in our presumptive superiority over our predecessors. We may also be diluted not merely polluted in our mettle, values, virtues! We may be placed in this context purposefully to flourish in this unique niche in space-time . But, praise be to God, we are still here even if diluted and polluted!

SERMONIC SELECTIONS

The ability to make a sermon out of anything is a great gift. That unique ability implies the power of sight, feel, taste, hearing, scent, intuited from mystical realms of analogy, with each connected to the whole. A member of a church that I then pastored told me that I had that ability one Sunday years ago. I thanked him for complimenting me, even though his meaning was not clear to me, before this very day. Some preachers buy sermons, or lift them from others, or read them from various specially prescribed pastoralist texts or lectionaries. Not me, praise be to God! I can look out of the window and see one, or obtain them from history, current events, sports, meals, movies, etc.

2 FISH 5 BARLEY LOAVES

The 2 fishes and the 5 barley loaves, which Jesus blessed, broke, and gave his disciples to feed to the 5,000 on the hillside, including the boy, whose lunch they had been, are both prime numbers. The 12 baskets of scraps, remainders are composite numbers. Prime numbers (2,3,5,7,11,13,...) Prime number is a natural number that has only two divisors: 1 and itself. WWW.RAPIDTABLES.COM

SPECIAL RELATIVITY AND GOD

SPECIAL RELATIVITY AND GOD Undoubtedly simplicity, clarity and brevity promote comprehension while adding profundity, whether in penmanship or in physics . Energy equals mass times the speed of light squared or (E=MC2) --the special theory of relativity by Albert Einstein--is about as simple, as clear, as brief, as any equation ever written, or as any thought ever uttered, and also as profound. That formulation was perfected by Einstein and others from 1905 to 1946, until it achieved iconic status. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass–energy_equivalence Ultimately it is a condensation of the two laws of conservation of energy and matter, into one law, its covariant; wherein and whereby each, energy and matter, subsumes, transposes, and swallows up the other, two states in one, innately and interminably. As such, both being innately and interminably entangled, what a familiar Biblical metaphor from the book First Corinthians says about the conservation of the laws of matter and energy, or of matter as energy is also here appliable: the perishable becomes the imperishable and mortality becomes immortality. http://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/15-54.htm To God be the Glory!

"DON'T SNITCH" IS STUPID

"DON'T SNITCH" IS STUPID! A few years ago, a so-called "Don't snitch" campaign gained traction within certain tissues of the black body politic . I had heard it advocated by young rappers, who had also seemingly promoted certain illicit behaviors by t-shirts and verse. Self-serving? Yes! Meanwhile, utilizing the "Don't snitch" cover, drive-by shootings, armed robberies, break-ins, drop-outs and gang-bangers were being drafted and engrafted into urban phalanxes of black "terrorists." These miscreants preyed upon their own, pursuing power, profit, privileges, and glory, "by any means necessary," heedless of, indeed contemptuous of, its self-morbidity, its disabling tendency to disembody black unity/progress in their homes and in themselves ! I hereby suggest whoever brought us "Don't snitch " also brought its cultural accouterments, its criminal crew; to better exploit the whole. I have no specific nor concrete evidence of this connection, this concupiscence, between vaunted "Don't snitch campaigns," and morbid "community" encroachment, to the extent that the former, physically-black "communities" still viably exist, as they once did, beyond postulates in the memories of folks over 55 like me! Rather, I merely suggest this nexus based on my historical knowledge of the "divide and conquer" strategies involving guns, trinkets, cloth, mirrors, and inexpensive manufactured gewgaws, that were so successfully used in sub-Sahara Africa by Muslims and Christians to engender tribal war, an internecine, centuries-long, continent-wide, deportation and depopulation of that primordial birthplace of man. These thoughts were prompted by my readings in WOODSON 'S APPEAL (1921, 2008), Dr. Carter G. Woodson's posthumously published manuscript. It was fortuitously and fortunately found among Dr. Rayford Logan's files by Dr. Darryl Scott in 2005. Logan was "the late Howard University professor and Association executive director after the death of Carter G. Woodson," writes Scott, in "Editor 's Preface" . Dr. Scott is presently Executive Director of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History that Woodson founded in 1915. Scott is also a Howard University professor. Get a copy of this "lost-now-found manuscript by the Father of Black History " for Christmas or sooner! (P. Xii)

SWEET CHOCOLATE AND APPLES

Sweet Chocolate and Apples In fairness to the current outcropping of Presidential candidates, it may be well to recall that inevitably, unavoidably they are being implicitly compared to President Barack Obama, perhaps the greatest ever to occupy that exalted office. Looking farther back up the line, to the Bushes or Reagan or Clinton or Carter, comparatives become more manageable, even more tolerable . Eating sweet chocolates before an apple leaves its taste repugnant!

PART OF THE 'PI' ARE YOU AND I

Part of the PI are you and I. Translation: We humans are unique integers in the ever-unfolding, never-repeating sequence whose end is infinite and who origin is everlasting! Amen!

MYTH OF FIELD AND HOUSE SLAVES

Not all field slaves were righteous or heroic, just like not all house slaves were venal or traitorous, despite facile stereotypes to the contrary. History and careful observation teaches us discernment in all and the holy scriptures teach us discernment in all things

QUALIFICATIONS HOAX

QUALIFICATIONS HOAX Qualified and qualifications are recent EEO standards erected to obstruct employment opportunities for certain undesirable persons. On the job training is common and was common in many fields, along with apprenticeships historically. The qualification to be President is merely to be at least 35 years old and a citizen of the United States. Many long-time black employees complain that they were forced to train their supervisors, who later turned around and fired them. Who's better qualified for a given job or "unqualified" is an equal opportunity hoax foisted upon the black gullible and the vulnerable.

creation is not enough

CREATION IS NOT ENOUGH All created things must in life be sustained and maintained, whether they are created by man or by God. Thus, simply being endowed by the "Creator with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," as stated in the "Declaration of Independence," is, not enough, that phrase being, at best, preliminary and limited. However high-sounding its noble sentiments, following creation, the creature still must eat, drink; be clothed, sheltered, loved; & work! These thoughts were suggested to me while reading Margaret Hope Bacon 's BUT ONE RACE: THE LIFE OF ROBERT PURVIS (2007), in which Mr. Purvis celebrates the ratification of the 15th Amendment voting rights on blacks, ergo the realization of full black citizenship in Philadelphia on April 26, 1870, so enthusiastically on page 173.

CERTAINTY OF GOD TO ME

Certainty of God to me "Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth." Hosea 6:3. When asked by those who do not know, or who pretend not to know, whence comes my "belief" in God? I tell them right away that I do not believe in God; rather I know God. I know God for myself based on trial, based on my own many personal deliverances from dangers seen and unseen, from terrors untold! I tell them that I embody God's essence in my existence , which but for God's grace could never be. I tell them that the sunrise and sunset; the tide's ebb and flow; the seeds that yield their fruit and the heavens their rains, are evidence, are proof of God. So too is mathematics, astronomy, farming, sailing, geometry, physics, biology, chemistry, botany, art, music, faith. I do not disdain any one's beliefs nor any dutiful believers. But, for me, mere profession of "belief" is faraway too weak, and too feeble. To me, to know God for oneself is to love God as oneself and to love one's neighbor as oneself. Amen.

PERFECTION IS POSSIBLE

PERFECTION IS POSSIBLE Is "perfection" possible, in man? I say "yes!" I realize that my question is as controversial as my answer is debatable. So be it. I reiterate, "perfection is possible in man." Jesus said, "Be you therefore perfect even as your Father in Heaven is perfect ." Matt. 5:48. https://www.bible.com/bible/1/mat.5.48.kjv Elsewhere Jesus said, "If it were not so,I would have told you." John 14:2. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/… A definition of perfection is: "To live life in complete accordance with its governing coordinates." Every leaf, drop of water, element, animal, bird, bacteria, or fish, is perfect. Each lives in accordance with its own governing coordinates. Man can too. Man has too. Before the "fall," in the mighty megaliths of ancient Egypt we see perfection applied in geometry, astronomy, engineering , architecture, morality, philosophy . We acknowledge such perfection ritualistically in Masonry. Just as surely as on earth evil and wickedness are possible, human perfection , their polar opposites are likewise possible on earth. In the absence of knowing of the possibility of attaining earthly perfection; of even having sublime consciousness of such perfection, people amble about in imperfection always seeking, never finding: love, hope, joy, faith, happiness, home. Make perfection your goal! Perfection is being all you can be; doing all you can do; with what you have; where you are; with whom you can, to the glory of God, our Creator, and governing coordinate!

PAULI MURRAY

Reading PAULI MURRAY: THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A BLACK ACTIVIST, FEMINIST, LAWYER, PRIEST AND POET (1987), I burst into tears of joy, upon learning that her determined, "soldier-like" effort to aid a visually impaired law school classmate, Billy Jones of East St. Louis, Illinois, who was excluded by all other study groups at Howard, due to such, culminated in her getting the highest grade on the final exam in "Bills and Notes," an especially demanding course! I was moved not merely because this incident involved my alma mater , Howard Law School; not merely because of her acts of kindness to Billy Jones; but, in addition to these, as she writes: "I had been so absorbed in the process of getting the material across to Billy that, without realizing it, I had applied the educational principle that the best way to master a subject is to try to teach it to someone else." (P. 219) There is a present reward for righteousness, as exemplified above! That fact brings me joy!

CINDERELLA'S EGYPTIAN ORIGIN

The Golden Race Returns Page Liked · 2 hrs · Cinderella, The Egyptian Tale Of Rhodopis "Rhodopis" is an ancient tale about a Greek courtesan who marries the king of Egypt. The story was first recorded by the Greek historian Strabo in the 1st century BC and is considered the earliest known variant of the "Cinderella" story. The origins of the fairy-tale figure may be traced back to the 6th-century BC hetaera Rhodopis. Rhodopis, a courtesan, was bathing. An eagle snatched one of her shoes from her maid, carried it to Memphis, and dropped it into the lap of the king (named Psammetichus in Aelian). The king searched for the owner of the shoe. He found Rhodopis in Naucratis and married her.

DADDY'S TRIALS IN WORLD WAR II

Daddy's Trials in World War II Veteran's Day celebrations brings to mind my own dearly-beloved father, Elvis Mitchell Coleman, and the many trials he had to face and to overcome both before and after he met our late, much-lamented mother, Margie Dean Coleman. One very big trial for him was just serving in and surviving at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, in 1942, where area colored troops trained under loathsome confines and conditions of rigid segregation, a few years before my own birth in Canton, Mississippi in 1951. Daddy recalled his exclusively state-side wartime experiences rarely, bitterly, grudgingly, tersely, and usually with tears. A post on Camp Shelby yesterday on Facebook exposed its many terrors to me that black World War I recruits faced. So, by inference, I deduced that my father's World War II experiences could not have been too much better in Mississippi in 1942. Thousands of German and Italian POWS were sent to this camp, from North Africa where they had been captured, and being "white" they received better treatment there and elsewhere than my father and the other colored troops.http://mshistory.k12.ms.us/index.php?id=233 Daddy distinctly mentioned being segregated and confined to freight trains with colored US troops while white POWS from Germany and Italy rode in passenger trains. They enjoyed privileges denied to blacks.

RECALIBRATE

RECALIBRATE Recalibrate each day my friends. You are not now where you were yesterday, appearances aside, and tomorrow you will have moved on from where you are today. Adjust, refocus, reorient; move you must. While time may not move, our planet certainly does, and all of its occupants, whether mountains, land masses or seas . Continuous motions locked in stillness of time. In the quantum differentials of continuous motion and constant time ; in the stillness of space, yet locked in moving matter, man is. Recalibrate each day my friends.

ALL HAIL JONATHAN BUTLER AND MIZZOU

ALL HAIL TO JONATHAN BUTLER AND THE MIZZOU COMMUNITY !! I salute University of Missouri graduate student, Jonathan Butler, for literally putting his life, with an 8-day hunger strike, on the line to protest and to seek redress of too long-festering racial issues on the Columbia, Missouri, campus which President Tim Wolfe--who just resigned today--took too casually, even cavalierly--for anyone's good! Now that Tim Wolfe, the tangible focal point of protests, is gone, an uncomfortable, though no less compelling question remains for Jonathan Butler, all protesters, curators, and that campus itself! That question is: "What now?" Those who shouted "nigger" from passing pickup trucks; those who scrawled swastikas smeared in feces on dormitory restroom walls, were NOT Tim Wolfe, or his agents! He kept the stiff upper lip and tried to ride out this tidal wave of racism and the reaction too it! He erred. Now, that he is gone, "Now what?" I raise this question because based on my studies and experiences, in similar contexts, I have found that addressing substance to be much harder than removing symbolism. Wolfe was symbolic . Neither he, nor any agent of his, proximately caused any of the heinous acts instigating or exacerbating the protests. As to what caused those acts proximately and proximally, an inquiry must be made, quickly, completely, emphatically: finally! Perhaps a "Truth and Justice Commission," akin to that which was convened in South Africa, after apartheid's fall, can be convened on all four University of Missouri campuses to inquire and to redress issues peculiar to each location under the aegis of each existing Chancellor , while the search for a new President continues . Or not. Just a sop of a suggestion is offered here by me. I am a non-University of Missouri alumnus--Howard University is mine--but, a thirty-year, Missouri attorney (inactive), resident and taxpayer. Better ideas may be proffered and implemented to the glory of Missouri, protesters, athletes, and educational efficacy! Whatever betide, I reiterate: Congratulation to you all! And particularly to Jonathan Butler!

IF NOT CAPITALISM, THEN WHAT?

IF NOT CAPITALISM THEN WHAT? This is a fair question to pose, to consider,to ponder. Cannot a more equitable economic system be designed, be experimented with and, if successfully vetted in miniature, applied more broadly?. Capitalism is frequently criticized for its unevenness and its harshness. But in the absence of a more viable economic alternative, why? To what end? Surely. somewhere on Earth, in the long history of Earth, another more equitable, less exploitative economic system has prevailed on the Earth. What? Where? When? Whence? If this question cannot be answered, stop crying, criticizing. And get some!

BOTH REALMS IN US

BOTH REALMS IN US Grandma knew. And brought us through. Leaning on the everlasting arm. Grandpa did too. Leaning on his, hers, theirs, and Heavenly Father's strong right arms, under their own vine and fig tree. Their children like laden young olive trees planted around their table, his wife a fruitful vine at his side. Both cosmically blessed by God in Heaven who brought them and their forebears to this place for a reason and for a season that we cannot know nor need to know! Praise be to God for us, for them, for theirs, and for God's Earthly embodiments and heirs: those sons and daughters of Earth, each epitomized in and symbolized by Jesus Christ, who was born to woman of spiritual semen to bind both realms in us: divine and human!

THANKS AND PRAISES

On this brilliant Sunday-morning of November 1, 2015, I give my thanks and praises to Almighty God for my life, for my liberty, and for the ever-continuing pursuit of my happiness ! AMEN!

A GRAND ARMY OF BLACK MEN

Between a rock and a hard place were black soldiers in the Civil War. They were not allowed to fight for 2 years, until 1863. When they were allowed to fight due to that "military necessity " described by Lincoln, they were still discriminated against in respect to their pay, provisions and commissions, for another year, until 1864. But, most critically the only officers permitted them, these United States Colored Troops (USCT) were non-line of command officers, chaplains and doctors . All white were the rest of these valiant black troops' commanding officers.A few were quite good, most were not. As it was with black soldiers, so was it with freed black slaves--the "contraband," as they were called. Actually conditions were worse for the wives and children of the USCT, since their year-long boycott of unequal pay by the soldiers had an even greater adverse affect on their families. Their letters to home and from home to the soldiers, spelled out so plaintively in the book, A GRAND ARMY OF BLACK MEN edited by Edwin S. Redkey (1993), makes this all crystal clear.
