MEGGIDO (ARMEGGEDON)

Meggido appears on a map of ancient Egypt, in WRITINGS FROM ANCIENT EGYPT (2016), publisher Penguin Classics, translated by Toby Wilkinson. The battle of Megiddo, for which the Biblical "Armageddon" was named, occurred in 1458 BC, between Egyptian Pharaoh Thotmes III, against Syria-Palestine. After a 7-month siege, the important trade city fell to Egyptian forces. "The Egyptian account is remarkable as the earliest detailed narrative of a battle in history, allowing the various troop movements to be reconstructed with great accuracy." P.54
