PROFIT MOTIVE BEFORE RACISM
When Columbus sailed in 1492 from Spain, it was to find an alternative sea route to the wealth of Asia and India, whose spice trade was monopolized by Portugal. Profit was the incentive, not slavery, nor was genocide, except where they may have been needed to acquire wealth. Profit was the motive. Profit continues to be the motive for all forms of exploitation and oppression.
