IN PRAISE OF OLD THINGS
Old cheese, old wine, old trees, old books, old civilizations, old recipes, old friends, old music, old stories, old pets, old treasure, old religions, old home places, old forests, old cars, old planes, trains , ships, -- practically everything, be it alive or dead , that is old--except for old people, who have seen it all, lived through it all, experienced it all, worked in it all, bought and sold it all, used it all, know about it all, are not only not revered in our modern American culture; but we are cast aside , as rubbish, useless detritus.
We blessed elders should celebrate our maturity, rather than succumbing to the absurdity of Madison Avenue 's "stay young , think young, eat young, dress young, live as though one were forever young," unnatural mass-media advertising manipulation scandals!
