As quiet as it has been, and may be kept, there is a very discrete group of African Americans who are being quietly paid for reparations: black farmers in the South. These folks have been paid several billions of dollars for wrongs that were visited upon them and/or their ancestors since the early 2000s at least.
I was able to apply to get $100,000 for my former (Americans With Disability Act) client and her sister.
Never heard from her after that!
Unfortunately, I was not able to pursue this pecuniary opportunity for my own family, due to certain circumstances. But, you may be able to get some money for your family, especially if anyone is still working on or near your ancestors' lands. It is worth investigating. But. Keep it as quiet as it has been kept!
