LAMENT FOR "AMERICAN" JAZZ

LAMENT FOR "AMERICAN" JAZZ Music that is cut off from its base, is like a nose cut off from its face ; is like a river cut off from its source; like racers too far from the course . Such is my lament for American jazz; born with so much New Orleans' soulful sass; yet its swing was contorted, & melodic rhythms retarded, by the flash of Euro cash. Oh prodigal child of Congo Square who lost its wheat among the tares, it's time to get home, please come home, to that rich creative manure of your natural, primal verdure. Music that is cut off from its base, is like a nose cut off from its face; is like a river cut off from its source; like racers too far from the course.
