AMELIA BASSANO A/K/A "WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE"
Methinks that SNOPES doth protest too much. "Moor" or "Moroccan/Jewish" was likely this beautiful brown colored woman in 1600s. They were in the late 1700s when the USA signed its treaty with it to end "white slavery!" So thus depicted, I would say the image is consistent with the color attributed to the Moors by Mark Twain, when he visited that country in his book, THE INNOCENTS ABROAD in the 1800s. So, that is Amelia Bassano! Hooray! No wonder I loved Shakespeare's rhetorical rhythms! Snopes argues way too long, and unpersuasively for me!
