FACTS AND "EUCLID"

http://aleph0.clarku.edu/~djoyce/elements/bookV/propV3.html FACTS AND "EUCLID" Facts are foundational to truth. Facts precede, are fundamental to all else . Law arises from facts, not facts from law. Any nuance of facts alters perceptions, outcomes, law. Grasp the facts, all of the facts, so then you may command effectively. Not having knowledge of all of the facts can be, and, has often been, disastrous in battle, in school, life. Some attempt to subdivide facts into categories, like material facts, substantive facts, procedural etc., have been attempted by scholars. Such nebulae are immaterial here. The focus here is upon the fact itself, a fact itself, any fact itself . Now defining a fact is difficult. For facts are a blend of objectivity and subjectivity, of perception and of conception. Thus, facts are proven; facts must be proven to be facts. Facts may be proven variously. Proof of asserted facts means, indeed, a proof of asserted facts specifically demands, an actual demonstration of the existence of the alleged facts that is sufficient to exclude the existence of other sets of facts contending for proof. The clearest, cleanest exposition and proof of geometric facts that I have ever seen are in EUCLID'S ELEMENTS. "Euclid" was not an actual person. No autobiography of him exists. No ancient images of him exist, except for certain vain imaginings by covetous Greeks. Instead of a person, Euclid is a pseudonym, I surmise, for an ancient African scribal society 's accumulated corpus of rules and algorithms that were bequeathed over thousands of years, from ancient Egypt, after being applied in their construction of temples , pyramids, levees, megaliths, that have been brought forward to us. The work is exemplary. Despite its antiquity, its reliability yet remains unsurpassed by any work that I have yet read or seen. It defines, explains, directs, demonstrates all of its proofs step-by-step, logically, sequentially, graphically, easily . The work takes note of corollaries, lemmas , porisms, postulates, common notions, all of such with repetitions that are reinforcing all others, rigorously, indeed ritually, and religiously throughout this 13-book, mathematical masterpiece.
