SAME YESTERDAY AND TODAY
DNA of plants, animals , and man reflects a 99.5% genetic identity between ancient, medieval, modern clines, dating back millions of years.

That would suggest that each bears substantial similarities to ancestors. From this one may further deduce that there are very few differences over long periods of time among us.
A "cline," in biology is defined in the above link as a "continuum of species, populations, races, varieties , or forms of organisms that exhibit gradual phenotypic and/or genetic differences over a geographic area, typically as a result of environmental heterogeneity." It is further asserted above that "in the scientific study of human genetic variation, a gene cline can be rigorously defined and subjected to quantitative metrics."
Despite our demonstrated genetic similarities, popular literature and perceptions, proceed from a linear premise of our having "progressed" over our predecessors in many ways.
To that prevailing popular prejudice , I say, "bunk!" The same yesterday as today, is mankind, plants & animals.
