SYMBOLS AND SUBSTANCE
Do not confuse symbols with substance; neither conflate symbols with substance ; nor elevate symbols over substance.
Substance is material. Symbols are immaterial, representative of other.
That is why the Bible elevates the spirit of the law over the letter in its teachings. Spirit is of God. Symbols are man-made. What is of God is accessible to all, while man's are accessible only to some, only few.
That is why it is important to see through symbols and appearances, and to look to its divine substance.
