DEUS EX MACHINA
DEUS EX MACHINA
Friday, May 12, 2017
By Rev.Dr. Larry Delano Coleman
“DEUS EX MACHINA” (GOD FROM A MACHINE) IS A PAGAN ESTIMATION OF DIVINITY.
SUCH MAY ALSO BE THE FUTURE OF “MANKIND”—MACHINED.
ALREADY, DRIVERLESS CARS, PLANES, DRONES, COMPUTERS, ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, INTERNET, CYBERHACKING, ROBOTS, AND MANY OTHER UNNAMED, MACHINE-BASED TECHNOLOGIES, ALORITHMS, LOGARITHMS, COMPETE WITH HUMANS FOR JOBS, RSOURCES, RECOGNITION.
IN THE FUTURE, MACHINES MADE BY MACHINES, MAY DEEM MANKIND TO BE TOO INEXPEDIENT, INCONVENIENT, TOO EXPENSIVE, THUS, UNNECESSARY TO CARRY FORWARD AS ACCESSORIES.
SCIENCE FICTION BOOKS, VIDEOS, CARTOONS, MAGAZINES, OR MOVIES HAVE ALREADY EXPLOITED THIS MACHINE-MAGISTERIAL THEME, MEME, POSSIBILITY.
MAKING MAN HAS LONG-SINCE BEEN THE GOAL OF MAN. FRANKENSTEIN, SUPERMAN ARE EXAMPLES.
MAN HAS ALSO LONGED TO BE GOD.
THE MACHINES MADE BY MACHINES, MADE BY MACHINES, ETC., MODALITY MAY DO THE TRICK.
AT SOME INDETERMINATE FUTURE POINT,THEN-LONG EXTINCT MANKIND MAY BE LOOKED BACK UPON AS A CRUDE STAGE OF EVOLUTION, AS DINOSAURS AND APES ARE NOW SEEN BY MUCH OF MANKIND.
AT THAT POINT, MACHINES MAY DO OBEISANCE AND RIGHTEOUSLY PROCLAIM, “DEUS EX MACHINA”!
