PROJECT HIP/LITTLE SCHOLAR

My freshman year at Howard, I was part of a tutorial program for neighborhood elementary school kids, "PROJECT HIP." We tutored them in math, reading, writing, social studies. Aaron was my pupil. My senior year at Howard, while Editor-in- Chief of THE HILLTOP, we spun-off "Little Scholar:" a weekly insert that was prepared by grade school children near 4th & Bryant St., N.W., from writing assignments given to them by their teachers. They loved seeing the short articles, poems, names, in print, published. This was in the 1969-1973 period. I hope they have survived in part.
