FAST FOR "LENT"
MY FAST FOR "LENT"
"Lent" is the traditional time that is typically set aside for some type of solemn fasting, before Easter. As a sometimes untraditional, cover-to-cover Bible-reading, Christian, instead of food-abstaining, I have chosen to "fast" by fighting for freedom from racism, fascism, despotism in the United States.
I find support in scripture, Isaiah 58 :6 , which says:
"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?"

Then, having fasted thusly through Easter and beyond, it is my fervent hope that I may be a "Well watered garden whose spring never fails."
