SHELF LIFE
TRUTH'S SHORT SHELF-LIFE
Since when have facts or the truth really mattered in American life? Those few of us who have favored or who have promoted the truth, facts, justice, have been the most prosecuted, the most persecuted, for expressing, for proclaiming, such unAmerican, even foreign ideas.
Ours often has been the same fate as "Socrates," Plato's apostrophic alter-ego, poisoned sage of Ancient Greece !
Whenever, however, facts, truth, or justice have come back into vogue, into fashion, I certainly welcome its remarkable presence! Its shelf-life is seasonal and notoriously short!
