FORETHOUGHT FOR 2020
FORETHOUGHT FOR 2020
In 1860, when Abraham Lincoln was elected President, there were 4 political parties in contention for that office. His new Republican Party was only formed in 1856, 4 years earlier; its first candidate was John C. Fremont, "the Pathfinder."
I mention this retrospective of 4 political parties, because third parties have not won historically.
A sage move to make in 2020 is to field a 4th-party to round out the pack. Its platform would have to engage a cross-section of interests to be viable, with support in areas of the nation typically deemed to be the bailiwicks of other parties.
The idea is to ratchet onto some issues that can be driven home as wedges. I do not here and now flag any issues for elevation aloft. My focus here is to call into being the 4-party political mechanism itself.
The time to start is now, before the Donald Trump inauguration, before the Democrats figure out what has just happened, while tears are in all eyes, be they joyous or not joyous!
Give it forethought ! Now forward!
