Today I finished reading CHARLES W. CHESTNUTT: STORIES, NOVELS, AND ESSAYS (2002). It was an honor for me to have done so. Years ago, I had read "A Wife of His Youth, " and I never forgot it. My urge to re-read this post-Civil War love story of slaves' lost-love, faithful and dogged search lasting decades, and fateful, miraculous reunion, brought me to tears. I decided to read the rest of this lawyer, stenographer, who was 1/16th black. Happy am I ! Commended highly!
