grandparents' legacy
My late, beloved paternal grandparents, landowners and farmers in Holmes County, Mississippi, were instrumental in the construction of the Andrews Chapel Methodist Church, and its neighboring school, of like name, which my father and his eight siblings all attended. My grandparents and two uncles are buried on the church grounds. It is, to be sure, up in the woods, but they were our woods, known to the inhabitants of that area. I have visited that now-abandoned church and school, in recent years, and came away, smiling and wondrous.
