NO AMERICAN EQUATION
Omitting any variable from any mathematical equation is bad enough, but omitting a constant, from its formula, is even worse.
Either omission will throw it off, to greater or lesser degrees in time.
Blacks are more than variables in American life. They are constants.
Left utterly out of the American equation, except as bracketed placeholders, there was never an actual, national American "equation," only organic error, and miscalculated effrontery.
