SOLICITATION

SOLICITATION TO SEEK TRUTH Unraveling our millennium years old, recondite, mystery of black history, is a gargantuan, multigenerational, task, undertaking, befitting sages, pages, scholars, dollars, teachers, preachers, babies, elders, teens, adults, able, disabled: blind, deaf, dumb; in short, everyone that has breath! who desires to see all of the black historical truths revealed, made real, from beneath layers upon layers of lacquered lies, in which many are buried among the stuff of other-than-black peoples. One can be dissuaded easily from even trying due to enormity of the work required. But for people with a mind to work, no task is too big. These people with a mind to work are those being solicited in this appeal. They know who they are; or will surely make self-discovery in due time: for now is the time for seeking the truth of black history! That truth shall make you free. Its lack, its loss, caused your relapse ! Where do you start? What do you do? Start within yourself; upon one attaining empowering clarity there, spread without into your context, environment: family, work, school, community, fraternities, sororities, churches, lodges, businesses, recreation , stores, shops, clubs, bars, taverns, restaurants; spread your powerful black historical detective inquiries and researches wherever you are and wherever you go. Be woke! Be open! Be seeking: be willing to learn, to teach, to help!

VERY GOOD REPORT!

A VERY GOOD REPORT! Brother Harold Coleman called me yesterday, 12/12/2018, to report on his hospital visit to see our first cousin, Reverlea Coleman, of St. Louis, who is recovering from open heart surgery. This report is all the more remarkable, because brother Harold just had his big toe removed surgically recently for a troubling diabetic condition. Yet, he thought it not robbery to cast aside himself for her sake and the gospel's sake! Brother Harold is a preacher of the gospel, CME. So is brother Edwin Coleman, our baby brother, who had arrived at Revvie's room, even before Harold, to the delight and surprise of Revvie and hospital staff. "Who is this handsome man sitting at the foot of my bed, " Revvie reportedly gushed upon seeing Edwin, early in the morning! Obviously I was not there. But via Rev. Harold Coleman, the Holy Ghost got loose! And I was crying, laughing, shouting for joy because of my brother's phone call and very good report about Rev. Edwin Coleman and about our beloved cousin, Reverlea Coleman! Glory to God in the highest amen! Amen! Of course being an AME preacher myself, I dare not let this moment, this experience, this report pass, without giving homage to the One who has and does deliver me from all kinds of perils, plots, sickness! "FREEDOM"

A DEFINITION OF "FREEDOM" Constitutional rights are personal, individual, in application. So the U.S. Supreme Court held in the 1935 case Murray v. Maryland, prosecuted by Charles Hamilton Houston and Thurgood Marshall. The Supreme Court decreed that the black plaintiff was to remain as a student at the all-white University of Maryland School of Law, due to the State of Maryland having failed to make available to him a separate but equal law school, as Plessy v Ferguson (1896) had mandated. The Court held similarly in Gaines v. Canada (1939). As in Maryland, the State of Missouri had failed to make available to Lloyd Gaines of St. Louis a separate but equal law school to the University of Missouri to which he was denied admission due to his race, African American. Here, too, Lloyd Gaines' personal, individual constitutional rights had been abridged in violation of law. We are accustomed to think of our rights as corporate or group rights, and as not personal or individual. This piquant point occurred to me when reading the wonderful legal discursive, ROOT AND BRANCH: CHARLES HAMILTON HOUSTON, THURGOOD MARSHALL AND THE STRUGGLE TO END SEGREGATION, by Rawle James, Jr. (2010). I read it, after having read a memorable quote in UNCLE TOM'S CABIN by Harriet Beecher Stowe (1852), that defines "rights" as "freedom," through a character in her classic. That quote reads: "What is freedom to a nation but freedom to the individuals in it? What is freedom to that young man who sits there with his arms folded across his broad chest , the tint of African blood in his cheek, its dark fires in his eye--what is freedom to George Harris? To your fathers, freedom was the right of a nation to be a nation. To him, it is the right of a man to be a man and not a brute; the right to call the wife of his bosom his wife, and to protect her from lawless violence; the right to protect and educate his child; the right to have a home of his own, a religion of his own, a character of his own, unsubject to the will of another." P.356. (1852, 1987) Constitutional rights are freedom, are personal freedom, your and my freedom, to be who we are; doing what we can or want to make life better for ourselves and our family.

CUSH KUSH ETHIOPIA

"Perhaps a certain part of Arabia bordering on the eastern shores of the Red Sea was in the most ancient times called Ethiopia , in that it was occupied for a long while by the descendants of Ham; but the Ethiopia of the Scriptures was in Africa south of Egypt. It is a country referred to by the Psalmist when he says (xlvii.31) 'Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God;' by Isaiah when he speaks of 'Ethiopia and Sabea,' (xliii.3), of the merchandise of Ethiopia and the Sabeans, men of stature,' (xlv.14); by Jeremiah when he speaks (xlvi.9) of 'Ethiopians and Lydians that handle and bend the bow;' by Daniel when he speaks (xi.43) of 'the Lydians and the Ethiopians;' by Nahum when he speaks (iii.9) of 'Ethiopia and Egypt ;' by Zephaniah when he speaks (iii.10) of suppliants 'beyond the rivers of Ethiopia;' and by Luke when he speaks (Acts v.iii.27) of 'a man of Ethiopia;' and 'Candace, queen of the Ethiopians.' "These holy men do not refer to an 'Ethiopia' in Arabia, but to that of Africa. It is very true that the term 'Ethiopia' was sometimes used in a loose and a wide sense, implying an indefinitely extended country in the extreme south, southeast, and southwest; but it always signified the geographical parallels or southern belt inhabited by Hamitic Cishites. Herodotus says:... "'Where the meridian declines toward the setting sun , is the Ethiopian country, the extreme limits of habitation.' This determines what country Herodotus meant by the term 'Ethiopia ', so frequently used in his invaluable history. He means Africa . "William Whiston, A.M., in his 'Dissertation iii.' on the traditional account given by Tacitus of the origin of the Jews and the founding of the City of Jerusalem , quotes Tacitus: 'Some say they were a people that were very numerous in Egypt under the reign of Isis, and that the Egyptians got free from that burden by sending them into the adjoining countries, under their captains Hierosolymus and Judas. The greater part say, they were those Ethiopians, whom fear and hatred obliged to change their habitations in the reign of King Cepheus.' "In commenting on this passage from Tacitus, Mr. Whitson says : 'One would wonder how Tacitus, or any heathen, could suppose the African Ethiopians under Cepheus, who are known to be blacks, could be the parents of the Jews who are known to be whites.' Here Mr. Whitson incidentally gives direct testimony that Ethiopia was in Africa as it is today, and that the Ethiopians over whom king Cepheus reigned 'are known to be black.'* "But higher authority still is that of the prophet Ezekiel , (xxix.10): 'I will make the land of Egypt utterly desolate, from the tower of Syene even unto the border of Ethiopia,' Cush. Here Ezekiel , inspired of God, locates the land of Ethiopia in Africa to the south of Egypt. When we remember that Mizraim and Cush were brothers, we can understand why he adjacent countries of Egypt and Ethiopia are so frequently mentioned and classed together by the prophets: for Mizraim is the Hebrew for Egypt , and Cush for Ethiopia." *["Josephus's Works, vol. 1. p. 47. PRIMES

PRIMES I am a prime. Not the prime, that is God; but my spirit, breath are from God. Therefore my life is from God. You are also a prime just like me. Knowing our uniqueness may help with personal insecurities, doubts and other inadequacies that may burden us, periodically, like death . Our lives are literally not our own. They all belong to God but were bailed, loaned, licensed, to us all to use for the season that we are all here. After here? who knows? No one, but the one who brought us here , sent us here, can know. It is more than enough for us to handle now, which moves at light speed. Being prime we are all also divine, meaning that: none but the One is divisible into us, an exponent of us. Amen.

MICHELLE OBAMA AND GEORGE BUSH

Men and women are fungible by nature, meaning that any man can and will mate naturally with any woman; just as any woman can and will mate with any man, naturally. Politics and sociology seek to repress this natural fungibility, to confine it to within acceptable parameters based on law or customs. The George Bush/Michelle Obama infatuation is, in this respect, redolent of J.A. Rogers's works, especially AS NATURE LEADS, and NATURE KNOWS NO COLOR LINE.

THANK GOD FOR JESUS!

THANK GOD FOR JESUS! "Thank God for Jesus!" an elderly black woman used to exclaim when she got happy in church, and, quite often, even when she was outside church! Jesus made her happy! Jesus Christ makes me happy! Happy enough to make one who "knows him" to exclaim, to shout, rejoice at the sound of his name! As we approach Yuletide season , Christmas , with its songs, carols, decorations , gifts, presents, bows, shopping, happiness, good cheer, high hopes, stories, fables, cards, pageants, feasts , family festivities, I am moved to say that if there was no actual, historical, savior "Jesus Christ," as certain authorities claim, there is, now, one fitting substitute! Jesus was clearly supernatural! too amazing to be, even from the start. To have been prophesied; to have been born to a virgin who remained virginal after his birth; to have been inseminated by the Holy Spirit, not by male sperm; whose birth was heralded by angels; birth place was located by stars; one to whom wise men traveled from the East bearing gifts of oil, spices, silver, gold, incense, to anoint this baby, the new-born king of mankind; which glorious birth announcement had so frightened Rome's King Herod, of Idumea, he slaughtered untold multitudes of baby boys below age two to prevent Jesus' maturation. Yes, supernatural was Jesus Christ, is Jesus Christ! Yet he is still just like normal, everyday men. He grew. He ate, drank, slept, wept. He walked, talked, debated, taught, gathered disciples, followers, including "many women" along the way: Mary, Martha, woman at the well, Mary Magdalen, many women! Like other men in history, Jesus, too, was betrayed, arrested , tried, wrongly convicted, crucified, died. Nevertheless, he also rose from the grave and sat at the right hand of God the Father, maker of heaven and earth. Before ascending to heaven he reappeared among men to reassure them that he is and was and ever shall be an "ensign on a hill " to which all who are troubled, oppressed, weary , worn may repair for hope, restoration, sustenance. This was the Jesus Christ that the "Thank God for Jesus!" elderly woman knew, that my own mother knew, that her mother knew, and grandmothers knew; that my father knew, that his father knew, and all mothers and fathers knew, going back, stretching all the way back, until the horizon of understanding blends, merges, into the darkness of ignorance. Jesus Christ of Bethlehem, Nazareth, Egypt, Calvary, Earth and Heaven is and was the one who has been with primordial mothers under a host of names, in a host of places in time and space on earth. Whether in sickness and in health, life and death, trials, tribulations, tragedy , challenges, and triumphs, joys, happiness, abundance, plenty! "Thank God for Jesus!" I also say!
